2003.06.26 - The New Jazz Thing Live on Jazz 88, 6 to 9 pm PT, KSDS San Diego, 88.3 FM and Webcast at KSDS-FM.org Tonight, believe it or not, there are no interviews scheduled. Woa! We've had quite a run at it in last two or three months, and it will be good to have time to get into the tunes and think about where the show goes next. If you've got ideas, send them to VO@TheNewJazzThing.com or use the Comment[] link below to share them with me and the world! One thing we will try tonight, is to begin integrating at least one HUGE CLASSIC JAZZ THING into each hour of the show. We all like to hear those familiar tunes once and awhile, so we'll try to do it with a little angle: The Definitive Version. We'll try and find old and New writers and critics telling us what the definitive recording was for some of the classics in Jazz. Hopefully we'll get some sort of process down where we are looking at both the ones we've all heard and maybe some that we haven't...and learn why critics (and even you and me) think these versions are Definitive. We started out tentatively a couple weeks back during our Boz Scaggs interview, but we'll try to take it a bit further now.
Much Love and Enjoy The Show....VO |

Trevor MacLaren: The Definitive Version of Guys and Dolls on Sinatra At The Sands According to Trevor MacLaren over at AllAboutJazz.com, a newly reissued version of "Sinatra At The Sands" featuring the classic meeting of Frank Sinatra and Count Basie (and new others) contains The Definitive Version of "Guys and Dolls",
Trevor goes on to point out something that I agree would be a highlight for me,
Can you imaging?! Now only if we have this new version at the station. |

BlogThis on The New Google Toolbar Catches Up With Manila Express CNET: Google tweaks toolbar to block pop-ups I'm not that bothered by pop-ups...I just squash them when I get around to cleaning up open windows. I'm pretty easy on things like that and spam...it's just a way of life to delete all the shit and then move-on. But that's not the interesting part of this announcement of the new Google Toolbar (which I use on any machine I can).
I tested out the feature on my test Blogger blog, TNJT Audblog, which is where my Audblog postings currently show up automatically show up. Worked nice and smooth...as did another test with some browser text selected...the default BlogThis template should be able to be enhanced to do things that I want...like blockquote and italicize the text from the article. One more thing while I'm talking about the Audblog, one reason I would consider moving the Audblog posting over to TNJT Mobile (betcha didn't know there was such a thing) is that Blogger sites don't generate RSS, which is nice to be able to syndicate site postings for others to browser in news readers (aggregators). But this test above linked me further into news of Blogger updates which includes talk of RSS...so where is it? There is some help in the new Blogger version (use the little question mark in the new Blogger interface) that talks about Syndication and RSS...
But I can't find the place in the new interface to 'select Publish RSS'. I wonder if it's only for Blogger Pro or something else is going wrong.
Test over... |
