Andrew Durkin of The Industrial Jazz Group - Interview in MP3 on The New Jazz Thing

AndrewDurkin_IJG.jpgAndrew Durkin leader of The Industrial Jazz Group was on the show last Thursday, November 13, 2003, and I've got the MP3 audio to prove it. Andrew and the IJG are coming into town tonight at Dizzy's and they've got a new album, The Star Chamber, that we've got on pre-release at Jazz 88 and will be released to all in February, 2004. Andrew talked about the new music, some of which is going to be played live tonight for the first time, and the show at Dizzy's. Check it out!

  • Quattro Pro to Excel to PayPal. To The New Jazz Thing!

As a joke to my big sis, who I graciously help as best possible with whatever strange questions come my way, I mentioned this morning, before one such session (albeit a child-interuptus one), that she first needed to head over to http://PayPal.com to pre-pay for support services. Well, I'll continue the joke and make it easy for her with this version 1 support button:

Go ahead, click it and do your part...hehe!

BTW...here's the gist of the Quattro Pro to Excel response that inspired such a wild idea as asking people for money (just in case you really needed this answer this morning and couldn't find someone to pay to help you out)...

Quattro Pro to Excel - Walking With Dinosaurs

Evidence points to Excel not supporting Quattro Pro out of the box, but still check the File / Open - Document Types to see.

A lot depends on the version of Quattro Pro and Excel. Here's a converter that you can add to Excel 2000 to open Quattro Pro 7 docs. Lot's of version numbers in there...beware.

Your best bet, if at all possible, is to ask whoever created it to either save it in Excel format or save it as a comma separated value (CSV) file which puts the spreadsheet data in a text file format that Excel can easily open into the appropriate columns. Who uses Quattro Pro these days anyway?!

    Next question?

P.S. To take this to it's most absurd, I should add a PayPal button to the Comment[] link at the bottom of each post. I'm sure I'd be rolling in the bucks in no time!

    Jimmi Leaps Away

JimmiJimmi's antennae had sensed the approaching nightmare a mile away. Which was why he was now in radio-silence mode and hunckered down between these sidewalk-slab canyon walls. He knew the probing stick couldn't be far behind...he could feel it coming now...so he LEAPED!

Right into the warm darkness of Miles hand. And now minus one antenna.

P.S. The post title is an ode to Lester Young, he of "Lester Leaps In"
