Wycliffe Gordon (TENTATIVE) on The New Jazz Thing, Thursday, June 23, 2005
TENTATIVE: Wycliffe Gordon jets toward San Diego, landing at The New Jazz Thing with Vince Outlaw, Thursday, June 23, 2005 between 6 and 9 pm PT (1-4 UTC) on Jazz 88, KSDS San Diego, 88.3 FM with World Wide Webcast at http://Jazz88Online.org!

UPDATE 6/25: Wycliffe and I were not able to connect for this interview due to his travel plans and such, but thanks to all who tried, including Fedra, his manager.

Wycliffe performs in San Diego at The Atheneum, with pianist Eric Reed, on Saturday, June 25, 2005. Let's see if travel plans and such collaborate with us to make a chat with this Jazz innovator and seeker of our generation. Fly Wycliffe, Fly.

In the meantime...

  • AllAboutJazz.com on recent Wycliffe Gordon: United Soul Experience and Dig This!. Definitely good stuff and played on TNJT of the past.
  • Ferrell Family Jazz at the Athenaeum Summer 2005 opens the series with Wycliffe and Eric, Duo Style!

-(Larry) has a great new disc out...here's as close to a review as you'll get from yours truly (from a missive to a colaborator in this blantant 'record promotion by radio' scheme),

Man...I'm listening to the disc right now...and I had start it up again after finishing it...to make sure that the last two tunes were from the same disc as the first few tunes...is there some texas swing blues progression story happening on this disc?! Very cool collection of tunes in lots of respects...wow...I sound like I"m writing a review. We'll chat about it.

Listen Live and then come back here for streaming and download MP3 of the show.

    In the meantime....
