Bringing Back Comments to The New Jazz Thing Weblog It's been a long time, but I'm experimenting with bringing comments back to posts at the TNJT sites, including this one and TNJT - The Tunes. I'm using the popular YACCS commenting service, based on the recommendation and instruction of fellow Radio Userland user Jenny, The Shifted Librarian. It looks like it works OK, but the real test will be to see if I need to turn moderation on because of all the spam comment posts I was getting before. We'll see. Oh, and I also want to quickly enable trackback so that bloggers can post their comments on their own site and we seem them pop-up with the more traditional comments like we've enabled here. Here are some related links of interest. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Buttons created with the Chicklet Creator 5:26:57 AM

2006.1.12 - Industry Scene Blogs The Horror Of It All, the IAJE 2006 Conference The Industry Scene at IAJE 2006, didn't live up to short-term projections, It wasn't as "intense" as people had told me it would be - the crowds weren't really that dense, and there weren't any vehement music nerd debates that I overheard - but it was an interesting experience anyway, and it was fun to get out of the office for a little while. :P. 2:25:43 AM

Paul Seaforth at IAJE 2006 on The New Jazz Thing, Thursday, January 12, 2006 Paul Seaforth, San Diego Jazz Educator, Jazz Thinker, and Jazz Fan reports in from the lobby of some hotel, basking in the glory of the 2006 Conference of the IIAJE. JazzSharking: IAJE DAY 1 - The Jazz Worker The best and brightest of Gen Jazz, ably represented by JazzSharking on IAJE Day 1, experiencing Big Time Jazz at IAJE 2006, "How the hell out of practice am I at working? So, I arrive to assemble a stand at the IAJE and of course realise within seconds that I should have brought tape, string, scissors, a mini-bar etc....Lizzy I so needed you there today. Without said equipment, stand could clearly not be built. Had to retire to the bar." Excellent instincts on the bar Thing. Pahleeeese...dig the chance, if you have it, to dig people who love to create on the fly. In the moment. In front of people. I know it's work, and I sure hope the Jazz people at the conference are of an exceedingly positive nature...jazz creation is nothing if not positive...adding to the knowledge, never, to my recollection, taking anything away...building....oops... ...back to work... Have fun 'Shark and Lizzy and The Other Jazz Workers. Long Live The Jazz Worker... I'd love to interview more of the Jazz Workers on the show...with their suggestions for someThing New and cool to play...'shark and Lizzy both sound like they have someThing to add to the New Jazz scene...is it all Jazz...hopefully not...and what props do they get for their music tastes in their day jobs. OK...it's late in PT.
Blog more tomorrow....I wish I could do a show each day this week....next year for sure....

North Sydney Boys High Bloggers In An Unseasonal Fog at the IAJE and New York City IAJE Bloggers from Australia Hit NYC, and relish the joys of not only hearing GOD-esse Maria Schneider Live IAJE 2006 performance (chatted up on TNJT 8/12/2004), "... it was so revolutionary, and sound so soft and subtle and cross-sectional and new and rich and beautiful and the solos were perfect and it was too good to be true, it just didn't make sense. in any case, we bought her CDs today." ...but also purchasing the newest, Grammy nominated New Maria tunes, which I believe are only available usually online, or as it appeared in a killer post from North Sydney Boys High Big Band Tour 2006 fainingly reluctant blogger Wyatt, "They aren't available in shops for some reason, copywright or personal fancy. very rare and hard to acquire, but beautifdul music that is soo worth it.we got them. Signed. i love IAJE." Keep bloggin' Wyatt...let us all know what fun Jazz in NYC is... ...oh..and change the title of each post...Day 1 / 2/3 at a minimum...or something more descriptive of the Lessons learned...
...like...why aren't you playing IAJE according to the conference (on-line) brochure?

International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE) 2006 Conference Oh how I wish I were hob-nobbing and soaking in all the Jazziness that is the International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE) 2006 Conference underway January 11 through 14, 2006 in New York City! But if I can't be there, I'll do my best to follow along this week (and hopefully next) with what's happening right now at the conference and maybe later with some of the ramifications on the immediate and longer-term future of Jazz. We'll at least mention it about a zillion times on tonight's show and we've got a couple of guests lined up to satisfy at least a little of our Jazz Conference Jones! Linkage.... 4:26:15 PM

If TNJT can't be there, then we will get the artist perspective on Jazz Education and the broader state of Jazz Music at this largest of Jazz events in the world. I'm hoping we can do a two-parter with Karin and have her on the show next week telling us exactly what she saw and her thoughts on it all after-the-fact. I'm sure Karin will also fill us in what's up with her Jazz career and other such interesting things.

In his lead-off to the December 26 issue of JazzWeek, he peaks our interest, While other recent changes have understandably given people reasons to be pessimistic, I[base ']m going to remain optimistic about this consolidation. It appears to be the joining of two strong operations rather than the retrenching we[base ']ve seen all too often. UPDATE: Ed is attending the International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE) conference in NYC, so he'll give us a love Some other Ed links of interest... 3:04:53 AM
